TEA is probing another San Antonio school district

Harlandale Independent School District is under a special accreditation investigation due to complaints about governance, nepotism, contract procurement and conflict of interest, according to a letter sent by the Texas Education Agency to board members and Superintendent Reynaldo Madrigal.

The mid-sized school district on the South Side is the fourth in Bexar County to face an accreditation investigation in recent years. Two of those investigations, in Edgewood and Southside ISDs, ended with the state taking over both districts by appointing its own governing board to each.

A third probe, in South San Antonio ISD, resulted in the appointment of a conservator to oversee the board.
